Portavogie Harbour has been the economic and social hub of Portavogie since its construction in the 1800s when it was known as  St Andrews. Below is a short film of the re-opening after restoration.

Portavogie fisherman Joe Mawhinney, and crew, with the strangest catch of his career - a 500lb mine. The World War Two mine was netted off the Isle of Man and carried back to harbour on board Mr Mawhinney's trawler, Sparkling Wave. 18/2/1977
